About Ur’s Vesper
The name of my kennel comes from the name of my first girl, Saltisgardens Vesper Lynd because everything started with her.
One of the meanings of the word “Vesper” is also “evening prayer”. John Russell, the founder of the breed, was a priest and to me, it seems a perfect choice for a kennel name of this breed. All Jacks that will carry my kennel name will in some way represent a humble evening prayer from John, me, and every new owner of my dogs, for contribution to the breed in every way the standard applies.
But the story has begun long before I registered my own kennel. In 2014 Tia has come to our home. After a long time of searching and waiting for another dog I have finally decided that Tia is the puppy I want. One of the reasons I have decided for Saltisgarden dog is that I was in contact with Ingrid long before Tia has come into my life. During my search and waiting for the right pup for me, Ingrid shared her knowledge and bits of wisdom with me. And even though she is one of the world’s most respected breeders and has achieved many successes she is still a humble and kind person to talk to.
And not just that! Ingrid in her years of breeding not only she has bred over 70 Champions by now (many of them are even hunting, Multi. and Inter. Ch.) and of course some Junior World and World Champions too, but also she bred dogs, that are still able to work as they were intended to. And most important that had and still has a significant role and impact in breeding, developing, and improving the Jack Russell breed. And that for me that is the greatest success breeder can achieve.
Not only the titles but the impact!
And I think that that is the kind of breeder I want someday to be. And now, with most gratitude, I am thankful that we have become good friends.
And there is another important person for me. Jasna Jeraj who owns a kennel RonRaj. She is one of the best breeders of Flat-coated Retrievers in this part of Europe in my opinion. She is actually the one that has introduced me to the ”dog world” from a perspective of a breeder. Sometimes she jokes: »I have ruined you!« I still remember our first discussions about breeding when we met and she was planning one of her litters. I was ”eating up” all the knowledge she passed on to me. And after that, my life has turned on a different path. Through the years we became really good friends and she is as I would put it one of my most important mentors in this wast dog world, for that reason I am deeply grateful.
The story continues…
